Wenger Services water treatment services

  1. Water Testing and Water Analysis

Water testing helps identify conditions such as hardness, pH, iron, sulfur, sediment, staining, taste, and odor. Wenger explains the observed results, discusses practical treatment options, and recommends independent laboratory testing when the question requires it.

  2. Whole-House Water Filtration

Whole-house water filters treat water as it enters the home. Depending on the tested conditions and treatment goal, a system may use sediment filtration, carbon filtration, specialty media, or more than one treatment stage.

  3. Water Softener Installation, Repair, and Maintenance

Water softeners address hardness minerals associated with scale, spotting, fixture buildup, and mineral deposits. Wenger installs new softeners and services existing systems, including salt, brine, resin, valve, bypass, regeneration, leak, and performance concerns.

  4. Water Conditioner Installation and Water Conditioning Service

Wenger provides water conditioning service for the installation and replacement of whole-home systems selected for the home’s tested water conditions and treatment goals. We explain how conditioner and softener options differ, then review system fit, maintenance needs, and limitations before approved work begins.

  5. Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Systems

Reverse osmosis systems provide point-of-use treatment for drinking and cooking water. Wenger helps determine whether reverse osmosis fits the water conditions, household use, available space, pretreatment needs, and ongoing filter and membrane maintenance.

  6. Well Water Treatment

Private-well treatment may involve more than one concern, including hardness, iron, sulfur odor, sediment, low pH, or a test result that calls for specialized treatment. Wenger evaluates the water source, symptoms, test results, existing equipment, and household demand before recommending a system.

  7. UV Water Treatment

Ultraviolet treatment may be part of a well-water system when testing indicates that disinfection should be addressed. System selection must account for water clarity, pretreatment, flow rate, power, lamp and sleeve maintenance, and the limits of UV treatment.

  8. Iron and Sulfur Treatment

Iron and sulfur can contribute to staining, metallic taste, dark residue, or rotten-egg odor. Wenger tests the water and evaluates whether filtration, oxidation, softening, or another treatment method is appropriate for the conditions found.

  9. Acid Neutralizers

An acid neutralizer may be recommended when testing shows low-pH water. Wenger reviews the test result, plumbing concerns, flow requirements, treatment media, and maintenance needs before recommending equipment.

  10. Sediment and Carbon Filters

Sediment filters help capture suspended material before it reaches fixtures or other treatment equipment. Carbon filters are commonly used for taste, odor, and chlorine-related concerns. The correct filter and replacement schedule depend on the water and household use.

  11. Water Treatment System Service

Wenger services many existing treatment systems, including softeners, filters, reverse osmosis systems, UV equipment, valves, tanks, controls, and related plumbing. We inspect the reported problem and explain repair, maintenance, or replacement options before approved work begins.

  12. Commercial Water Treatment Systems

Wenger provides commercial water testing and treatment for eligible properties, including installation, replacement, and service of filtration and treatment systems. Commercial recommendations depend on the property, water source, water demand, test results, and intended use.

How to Choose a Frederick County Water Treatment System

Every home is different in Frederick County Maryland, from historic homes in downtown Frederick City to more rural homes in the surrounding County. Here are a few practical systems you can install:

  • Whole-house treatment: addresses water before it reaches fixtures throughout the home.

  • Point-of-use treatment: addresses drinking and cooking water at a selected faucet.

  • Water softening: addresses hardness minerals.

  • Water conditioning: may help manage scale through a different treatment method.

  • Specialty filtration: may address sediment, iron, sulfur, taste, odor, or pH concerns when supported by testing.

Some homes only require one component, like a whole house sediment filter, while others need a sequence of components like sediment filtration before a softener or pretreatment before a UV or reverse osmosis system. Wenger explains the purpose and maintenance needs of each recommended stage.

Well Water Treatment Services in Frederick County

Frederick County homeowners searching for well water treatment often need help separating symptoms from causes. Hard water, iron, sulfur odor, sediment, low pH, and unpleasant taste can involve different treatment methods.

Wenger reviews the well-water concern, performs relevant testing, inspects existing equipment, and explains whether the system may need softening, conditioning, whole-house filtration, specialty media, UV treatment, repair, or additional laboratory analysis.

Water Conditioner or Water Softener in Frederick County?

A water softener uses ion exchange to address hardness minerals associated with scale and spotting. A water conditioner may use a different method intended to manage scale without removing hardness in the same way.

The right choice depends on the test results, the result the homeowner expects, maintenance preferences, household water use, existing plumbing and appliances, and the limitations of the equipment. Wenger explains those differences before recommending a system.

Whole-House Filtration or Drinking-Water Treatment?

Whole-house filtration treats water before it moves through the home. Reverse osmosis treats water at a selected drinking-water tap. These systems do different jobs.

A Frederick County home may need:

  • Whole-house filtration for sediment, taste, odor, iron, sulfur, or other tested conditions

  • Softening or conditioning for hardness and scale concerns

  • Reverse osmosis for drinking and cooking water

  • UV treatment when testing indicates that disinfection should be part of the treatment plan

  • A staged system when one treatment method depends on another

Had an early Sunday morning surprise of a toilet that wouldn’t unclog, called a few other 24/7 companies but none answered. Found these guys on Google and reviews looked great. I called immediately someone answered, explained the situation and as I already expected, would be an emergency fee and also explained another charge which I figured they’d need something special to unclog it. Guys showed up sooner than expected and as a small business owner myself your staff tells a lot about the Company. The guys that came out were awesome. Explained what they were going to do and actually personable which was awesome. Although their companies prices were higher then some I saw when I was researching who to call, I’d paid it every time. Now if I have any plumbing issues with my home or business I know who I’m using and recommend to anyone who needs someone!

  8. 5 out of 5 stars

Our sump pump started making scary noises and we called Wenger Services yesterday to get a second quote on replacing it. The team who worked with us was great, from Kristin who we called and messaged over the phone for pricing/scheduling to the team who came to our house today to do the replacement, Ian and his associate whose name I forgot! It was also reassuring to have the price given ahead of time. The visit was on time and they finished the job within an hour. It is also nice to not hear the screeching pump anymore, especially with how much water we get here!

This is my go to plumbing service. They do good work, and above all else, most importantly, are honest. I used them for a bathroom install (formerly a type of closet) and they did a great job. I’ve called them for random issues and they’re prompt. On a separate occasion, I woke up to water in the basement and they were able to get to me that morning to fix the pin hole leak in my pipe. Really appreciate these folks, I’ll continue using them.

Frequently Asked Frederick County Water Treatment & Filtration Questions

Does Wenger provide well water treatment in Frederick County?

Yes. Wenger tests and treats private-well water for conditions such as hardness, iron, sulfur odor, sediment, low pH, and other concerns identified through appropriate testing.

Do you install water conditioners in Frederick County, MD?

Yes. Wenger installs and replaces water conditioners and explains how they differ from conventional softeners.

What is included in a water treatment recommendation?

Wenger considers the water source, symptoms, relevant test results, household demand, existing equipment, treatment goal, and maintenance needs before explaining suitable options.

What is water treatment?

Water treatment is the use of testing, filtration, softening, conditioning, purification, disinfection, or specialty media to address specific water conditions or household goals. The correct method depends on the water source, test results, intended use, and equipment limitations.

Do I need a water softener or a whole-house filter?

A softener addresses hardness minerals. A whole-house filter targets other conditions based on the filter media and system design. Some homes need one system, while others need a treatment sequence. Testing helps identify the appropriate approach.

Is a water conditioner the same as a water softener?

No. A conventional softener removes hardness minerals through ion exchange. A conditioner may use a different method to manage scale without removing hardness in the same way. Wenger can explain which approach fits the tested water and treatment goal.

When is reverse osmosis useful?

Reverse osmosis is a point-of-use option commonly installed for drinking and cooking water. Whether it is appropriate depends on the water conditions, treatment goal, pretreatment needs, space, water use, and maintenance expectations.

Do you treat private well water?

Yes. Wenger provides well water testing and treatment for conditions such as hardness, iron, sulfur odor, sediment, low pH, and other concerns identified through testing. Some questions require independent laboratory analysis.

Do I need whole-house filtration or reverse osmosis?

Whole-house filtration treats water entering the home. Reverse osmosis is typically a point-of-use system for drinking and cooking water. Testing and the homeowner’s goal determine whether one or both approaches fit.

How does a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system work?

An RO system forces water through a microscopic semi-permeable membrane that catches contaminants as small as an atom. It effectively removes 99% of dissolved solids, including lead, arsenic, nitrates, sodium, and fluoride. It is the gold standard for drinking water and is typically installed under the kitchen sink with a dedicated faucet.

How much does a water treatment system cost?

The cost varies significantly because every house is different. But here's what we CAN tell you, a customer of ours received a $12,000 quote. We priced the job at $6K, nearly 50% decrease in cost for the exact same setup. We believe we're the most competitive water treatment installer in the area. One home might only need a simple sediment filter ($), while a neighbor might need a softener, acid neutralizer, and UV light ($$$). We don't guess, we offer a Free Water Test to analyze your specific water chemistry. This allows us to quote you a price for exactly what you need, with no unnecessary upsells.

What is meant by water treatment?

What is meant by water treatment?

How often should I replace the UV light bulb in my system?

You must replace your UV lamp once every 12 months, even if it is still lighting up. Over time, the UV intensity degrades and loses its ability to kill bacteria effectively. We recommend keeping a spare bulb on hand or scheduling annual maintenance with us to ensure your water remains safe to drink.

Will a water softener make my water taste salty?

No. A properly working water softener adds a very trace amount of sodium—hardly enough to taste. For comparison, a slice of white bread has more sodium than a gallon of softened water. However, if you are on a strict low-sodium diet, we can install a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system under your kitchen sink to remove that sodium (and everything else) for pristine drinking water.

Why do I have blue-green stains in my sink and bathtub?

Blue-green stains are a tell-tale sign of low pH (Acidic Water). This acidic water is eating away at your copper pipes, dissolving the metal and depositing it onto your fixtures. If left untreated, this will cause pinhole leaks throughout your home, leading to expensive plumbing repipes. We install Acid Neutralizers to balance the pH and stop this corrosion immediately.
